This game combines the RPG questing and colony designing genres. You manage more than just menus. Your villager heroes do the actual work. They harvest supplies, build shelter, quest, and basically do all the work to sustain the settlement. Although they do all the work, your job is still to manage, as you must direct them in order for them to level up and progress their individual skills. Leveling allows your heroes to access more and better quests and upgrades for your village.

You need to strategically grow your settlement to make it through the hard arctic conditions. You need to plan every detail of the settlement construction. The first level production buildings are a key start to your settlement and must be built first. Sawmills and quarries are the first levels of production to supply the materials for settlement growth. Once your resource production stabilizes, you can build more advanced level production buildings. Settlements need residences, and a functioning society means aneed social buildings like eating and schooling. Each building adds new challenges to the simulation because of the inter-connected nature of different town elements and the more buildings you build, the more your settlement grows.
