Monster Hunter Stories is a massive role-playing adventure that translates the traditional action-heavy hunt into a strategic, turn-based experience. By utilizing the Monster Hunter Stories MOD APK, players gain access to a comprehensive Mega Menu that adjusts the economy and progression systems of the game. This modified version is designed for those who wish to focus on the story and monster collection without the constraints of resource gathering or level grinding.

What This MOD Changes

This release includes a Mega Menu that allows players to toggle several significant gameplay advantages. The modifications affect how resources are handled and how characters progress through the world.

  • Unlimited money: The primary currency for purchasing gear and items is no longer a restriction.
  • Unlimited items: The logic for consumable items has been altered so that quantities increase when they are spent rather than decreasing.
  • Max player level: The player character will reach maximum level immediately upon gaining experience during a level-up event.
  • Max monster level: Similar to the player character, your Monsties will jump to their maximum level capacity after a single level-up.
  • Max monsters usage: Restrictions on monster deployment and usage are removed.
  • God mode: A toggle for invincibility is included, though it is noted that this feature may not function in all scenarios and could potentially apply to enemy monsters as well.

Version and Compatibility

The Monster Hunter Stories MOD APK is based on version 1.0.6 (build 33). The file is significant in size, totaling 1717 MB, and is provided as a single APK package. To run this version, your device must be running at least Android 5.0 (API 21).

The package name for this specific build is jp.co.capcom.mhsspen. Because this file uses a custom digital signature, it is not compatible with the version found on the Google Play Store. It cannot be installed as an update over the official release; a clean installation is required for the MOD features to function correctly.

How to Install

Installing this modification requires a specific process due to the file size and the modified signature. Follow these steps to set up the game:

    1. Remove any previously installed version of Monster Hunter Stories from your device to avoid signature conflicts.
    1. Navigate to your Android device settings and enable the installation of apps from unknown sources.
    1. Download the Monster Hunter Stories MOD APK file to your internal storage.
    1. If the download includes zipped data, use a file manager like X-plore to extract the OBB folders.
    1. Move the extracted OBB files to the following directory: /storage/emulated/0/Android/obb/jp.co.capcom.mhssp (or /sdcard/Android/obb/jp.co.capcom.mhssp).
    1. Open the APK file to begin the installation process.
    1. Once the installation is complete, launch the game and use the on-screen menu to activate the desired features.

How This Compares to the Original Release

This version is built on the 1.0.6 release of the original game but differs significantly in its economy and difficulty curve. While the standard game requires players to carefully manage Zenny and farm materials for consumables, this MOD removes those requirements by making items gain-on-use.

The progression system is also fundamentally different. In the original release, players and Monsties must participate in hundreds of battles to reach high levels. In this modified version, the level caps are reached almost instantly during the first level-up encounter. Additionally, the inclusion of the Mega Menu provides a layer of control over game difficulty that is not present in the vanilla Capcom release.

About Monster Hunter Stories

Monster Hunter Stories is a game centered around taming monsters rather than killing them. This game is a spin off of the mainstream Monster Hunter series. In this game, players take the role of monster ‘riders’ rather than ‘hunters’ and live in secret villages where you must build a connection with monsters with the use of ‘kinship’ stones. In Monster Hunter Stories you are more of a monster companion and ally tamer rather than a monster slayer.

The main part of the game involves turn based combat. Each attack is classified as one of the following : Power, Speed, or Technical. Power beats Technical, Speed beats Power , and Technical beats Speed. In order to succeed in combat you must pay close attention to the enemies attack pattern and counter it accordingly. Each battle victory moves your monstie closer to cooperating with you and in turn makes it possible to perform bonus powerful attacks.

Exploration is vital because there are a lot of unique areas to see. There are areas composed of tundras, and areas in closer proximity that are coated in volcanic ash. There are forests and areas that are teaming with wildlife you would expect in the Monster Hunter games such as the Rathalos, Tigrex, and even the Zinogre. Players take on the role of a Rider and traverse these regions with their Monsties. There are even creatures that can soar to new heights, and others that traverse aquatic terrain, thus revealing hidden goodies in new areas.

To finish the game’s core loop, players must venture into dens that are populated with randomly generated dungeons. At the end of a dungeon is a nest. You can steal a monster egg from a nest and return it to the village where it can be hatched. Each monster’s stats and genes differ from one another. This establishes the foundation of the Rite of Channeling. This is ingeniously designed in that you can swap genes from Monstie to Monstie and reconstruct the team’s resistances, attack types, and passive skills.

Whether this art style is more realistic across console games or not, it just works a treat for Monster Hunter Rise. There is a style about the world, it’s characters, and the story line overall, that makes it just a little more ‘pop’. Having dramatic moments in the story because of the Black Blight that drives monsters into a frenzy that affects the whole ecosystem, makes you want to carry on and complete the game. You tend to meet a few characters along the way that pull at your heart strings and give you a little comic relief (we’re looking at you Navirou) and gives you direction when you need it.

The things that made classic Monster Hunter games great? They’ve kept it all in. Combat is more of a turn based now, but it adds a new depth of gameplay. Defeated monsters drop items and materials that you can take to the smith, forge new armor and weapons. Sets of gear can have different elemental effects on the wearer with skills that benefit or compliment your team of Monsties. New weapons, Monsties, and armor sets will all take a long time to collect everything. But with hundreds of hours of game play post story, this is a game that will keep you entertained for a long time.
