What This MOD Changes

The primary modification in this release is the Unlocked Full Version status. Unlike the standard version which may restrict certain features or content behind a paywall, this MOD enables the Full Game Purchased state. To activate the full features within the app, users should follow a specific sequence: click on the Upgrade, Subscribe, or Resubscribe buttons. When the Google Play Store interface opens, simply close it, and the game will recognize the full version as active. This allows players to enjoy the entirety of the simulation’s content, including all classes, interactions, and character development paths that are typically reserved for paid users.

Version and Compatibility

This package is based on version 1.2.2 (build 23) of the application. It is identified by the package name com.MDickie.OldSchool and has a total file size of 251 MB. The file is a single APK, meaning it does not require additional OBB data or external folders to function. Compatibility starts at Android 7.0 (API 24) or higher. Because this Old School MOD APK has been re-signed with a private digital signature, it is technically distinct from the version found on the official store. Consequently, it cannot be installed as an update over an existing official installation; it must be installed as a fresh application.

How to Install

To install the Old School MOD APK, follow these steps to ensure the file is recognized and executed correctly by your device:

  • If you have the official version of Old School installed from the Play Store, you must uninstall it first. The MOD version uses a different signature, and the Android system will prevent an installation if a conflicting package is detected.

  • Navigate to your device settings and enable the installation of apps from Unknown Sources. This is usually found under the Security or Privacy settings menu.

  • Download the file named Old-School-v1.2.2-MOD-thinkkers.com.apk to your local storage.

  • Locate the file using a file manager and tap on it to begin the installation process.

  • Once the installation is complete, open the app.

  • To unlock the full content, click on Upgrade or Subscribe, then close the Play Store pop-up that appears. The game should now recognize the full version.

How This Compares to the Original Release

This modified version is built directly on the 1.2.2 release. The fundamental difference lies in the accessibility of content. In the original release, the full game experience typically requires a purchase or subscription to unlock specific features or remove limitations on gameplay depth. This version modifies the internal check for that purchase. By following the Upgrade/Close bypass method, the software behaves as if the full license has been acquired. Aside from the unlocked status, the core assets, 3D graphics, and gameplay mechanics remain identical to the source version 1.2.2.

About Old School

Old School is a game that tries to present a simulation of a child’ play environment. It is made for people who want to take a walk down memory lane by either bending the rules of once formal environments or by engaging in activities they never had the chance to. Unlike most modern day educational simulators, Old School engages and gives players a chance to taste the social and behavioral elements of school rather than be assailed with academic and gameplay elements on a surface level.

The game features a 3DModule Environment which presents a fleshed out 3D depiction of each classroom and hallways. The outdoor environment is also fully available for player interaction. With a shift to a more personal point of view in a 3D space, the player will experience the school zone with a greater sense of involvement. Sitting in a desk or interacting with the hallways will put the player in the activities and situations that students interact with on a daily basis.

Old School provides a sandbox–like level of player freedom. In-game classes allow for studying to progress a character in different ways, but players can choose to ignore that and go the more disruptive route. Students can disrespect teachers, disrupt classes, and partake in many activities that would otherwise result in punishment. The sandbox also allows players to do these things with no punishment, allowing players to safely act out.

That said, Old School isn’t a complete Jack-of-all-trades scenario. There are systems called student responsibility and choice, which ultimately means changing the game world by breaking the rules results in the player suffering in that world. It’s a way of saying all students have parents who now work in the world of the game. This depth is required to aid the player in learning the theoretical and practical inner-workings of the school’s social order and disciplinary system.

The core of Old School is player-versus-player interaction. There are no NPCs in the world of Old School. Each student is a designed player. This leads to social systems like alliances and rivalries. These systems create a network of relationships that mimic real–life interactions. This network is the backbone of the Old School community and creates a sense of realism.

An academic side of the game shouldn’t be ignored. Immersion in sim games helps extend interest for those who want to follow the curriculum. This is rewarded through progression as skills and knowledge grow through classes. The satisfaction of progression in student development counteracts the instant gratification of the rebellious spirit as the game tracks academic success over time.

The 3D world in Old School allows for a number of environments, from the quiet ominous feeling of a room full of silent exam takers to the excuseMeExcuseMe noise of a playground filled with an uncontrolled energy. Fresh gameplay is provided as you can be a good student one moment and a legend of the school the next at the drop of a hat. The game captures the feeling of youth and the sense of possibility that goes along with it and presents this in both the ordinary and extraordinary portions of life during the journey of education.

The design of this game is more about emergent gameplay. What this means is the story of your year of school is determined not by a rigid narrative, but more so by decisions. For example, you could skip history class to go to the gym in the morning, and the game would still account for that. You could go to the cafeteria to start a fight which would affect the NPCs surrounding you in a good way. The simulation feels most complete and satisfying when it is most reactive.

The school itself acts as a micro-society. Within this society, teachers hold the position of the established order. They are there to keep the school governed by the rules and to keep the class sessions in order, but they still can only do so much based on how the player decides to act. There are legitimate ways to act around the teachers, such as engaging in the lesson, but there are of course other legitimate ways to act around the teachers, like outright ignoring the rules. This is the duality that makes Old School so appealing because it mirrors the conflict many students have within themselves of wanting to get good grades and wanting everyone to notice them.

Beyond that, the game actually has a somewhat-elaborate system of character advancement that actually tracks stats that players improve of themselves through their (sometimes) decision-making that impacts the game world. There are many paths to choosing to become a certain person. There are things like being the scariest person in the room, being the smartest, being the most athletic, etc. Each path changes how the game can be formatted and how it can believe certain NPCs are going to treat you.

While the game is somewhat graphically modest, there are many little aesthetic details that people in this genre will appreciate. Because there is so much social and physical comedy in this game, it pretty easily would have just gone with no graphics, but because this game implements a good system of 3D models, then focuses on a certain aesthetic, they were able to implement a good system of character expressions and physical interactions, which is so important to a game that is meant to be basically solely seen through the lens of watching people play. Even if its just a digitized version of a principal’s office, it actually captures the feeling of the real-world.

Old School is about the entire student experience, ranging from the dullness that accompanies a long, boring lecture to the anticipation and breaks that come with food. Reliving these moments is a form of nostalgia for some and for others, an opportunity to burn out the school experience and creative sandbox. It also provides players with the tools necessary to create their own school experience based on achieving the perfect GPA or trashing the school rebel status.
